Il Volo

  • There are stories that resemble a fairytale and there are fairytales destined to make History. For Ignazio Boschetto (born in Bologna and residing in Marsala), Piero Barone (from Agrigento) and Gianluca Ginoble (from Roseto degli Abruzzi, born in Atri) facts do speak louder than words. Even before spreading their wings with their debut album, the members of Il Volo have already mesmerised, touched, thrilled audiences and achieved a remarkable series of unprecedented results, unthinkable for three 15 year old singers: the first Italian singers ever to sign for an American major label (Geffen, label of the Universal American group); the only Italian artists invited to take part in We Are The World for Haiti, together with 80 international stars such as Celine Dion, Bono, Lady Gaga, Carlos Santana, Barbra Streisand, Enrique Iglesias, Usher, Natalie Cole,  Will.i.am of Black Eyed Peas; superstar guests at Sanremo Music Festival, where they performed in front of Queen Rania of Jordan.  And now a CD to be released worldwide that will undoubtedly define them as the new wonder between classic and pop, between international melody and Neapolitan tradition, they continue to conquer the word, having already gone platinum in their homeland Italy, ad in Venezuela and gold in US Latino, Austria, France, Holland, Mexico, New Zeland, Puerto Rico and Singapore.

No-one, including the boys themselves, could ever imagine such an amazing rise. A true fairytale. No other word could indeed sum up the adventure of three young kids who dreamt to become one day great singers and who have today a chance that no-one ever had before: to be considered not as Italian artists who are successful abroad, but as international artists born in Italy.
They distinguished themselves individually in 2009 at Ti lascio una canzone, the TV show hosted by Antonella Clerici on Raiuno network, but it is thanks to the insight of “Mister Quando Quando Quando” Tony Renis and Michele Torpedine, the manager who built the careers of Andrea Bocelli, Zucchero, Giorgia and Biagio Antonacci, that they have become a wonder trio.
To make sure their experience was solidly rooted in real music and not on the shaky grounds of fleeting TV fame, the record production had to be impeccable. Tony Renis was joined by another great international producer, someone who changed the face of pop: Humberto Gatica, whose carnet contains the cream of the music industry, an endless list that includes amongst others Celine Dion, Michael Jackson, Michael Bublè, Barbra Streisand, Madonna, Elton John. When Gatica had the chance to listen to the demo given to him by Tony Renis he immediately thought of a fake, these kids are too good, too perfect. It’s impossible for three adolescent kids to sing like that. But it is all true. An extraordinary piece of work sees the light of day, an amazing album that enhances their wonderful voices and that at the same time puts these very same voices at the service of the songs. This is not a display, a showing off of skills, this is a vivid example of how the  sublime power of music can reach both the heart and the lungs. Il Volo sings and charms. They strike all the right chords and prove even to the biggest sceptics that it is indeed possible to be 15 years old and have a talent that moves mountains.

In May 2011, with the release of their first album “Il Volo”, they debuted at number 10 on the America’s Billaboard  Top 200 Album Chart in only a week.

The participations of Il Volo at the most important international broadcasts go down well: they has appeared on Tonight Show and American Idol touching all America, they had getting congratulations from Steve  Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson, judges of the famous contest.
They were on Ellen DeGeneres Show, Good Morning America and Today Show, having a great success and getting a round of applauses and standing ovation. They sang at the last episode of  Wetten Dass, in Germany which is the biggest European Tv Show.

On September, 4th 2011, Il Volo was among the artists like Celine Dion, Lady Antebellum, Jon Secada, Jordin Sparks, Martina McBride, Darius Rucker, Greyson Chance that has attended at MDA Labor Day Telethon in Las Vegas, performed by Jerry Lewis. On September, 6th they were host for UNICEF and Biennale in favour of  BAMBINI DEL CORNO D’AFRICA at Venice International Film Festival.

Il Volo also participated as special guest to the final episode of Entourage on HBO Channel. The episode of the famous American Tv series has gone on air on September, 11th,  getting a fabulous share of audience.

That’s not all. From September,25th to November,29th Il Volo made his first International Tour, which touched the most famous US and Europeans cities, having sold out every date. Next April they will be in Latin America for their first tour there.

They were the only Italian artists who received 2 Nominations at Latin Grammy Awards2011.

At the end of October, Detroit Public Television filmed Il Volo’s live show at Detroit's famed Opera House.  The concert will premier on Detroit Public TV on December 7th at 8pm with its national PBS airing beginning March 3, 2012 for more than 1000 tv stations in the country.
The DVD of the Detroit concert has been released in Spring 2012 worldwide

On November, 22th, 2011 was released the Christmas Edition titeled  Il Volo - Special Christmas Edition, which includes 5 more songs. In December they have sold  almost 1 million copies globally.

They are now up to start a North American tour of 40 concerts all over the countries, visiting the most important US and Canadian cities and theaters.
In October 2012, at the end of their North American tour they will perform as special guests in Barbra Streisand new tour.
